With the arrival of the R in the month, we are all looking forward to the Oyster Bar by Oyster Ibiza on Friday Nights and Vino&Co’s Wine Bar and Bistro.

There is an RRRRR again in the month.  The summer comes to it’s end and many reluctantly start the quiet winter season. Clear blue skies slowly become rare and the grew clouds indicate autumnal times.  But the real oyster lovers are jumping  for joy.
In the procreation period (May to August), the oyster obtains a bit of a milky flavour. And even though there are now kinds of oysters that are still enjoyable in this period, the real lover waits until September or October, when this delicacy from the Britanny’s Coast (in our case) is at it’s best. Characterised by its silty and salty flavours, an oyster typically has some metallic notes, of course a great minerality and, in some cases, even a sense of nuttiness. Oysters were once a poor man’s food, a power food, harvested for free on the oyster banks, rich in B1, B12, Potassium, Iodine, Phosphorus, Selenium, Magnesium and Zinc and totally calorie free. Nowadays it’s a delicacy that most seafood foodies adore, but maybe that is also because in the western world oysters are renowned aphrodisiac, a sort of edible Viagra.
All of this information is just an extra for us, as besides just really enjoying eating these mollusks, they make a perfect pairing with a lot of very beautiful wines, from Chablis to Sauvignon Blanc, from Albariño and Godello to Champagnes.
The perfect start to a great Friday Night at Vino&Co, where you will find outside at the Oyster Bar Julie, Maxi or Ramon from Oyster Ibiza, Ibiza’s first oyster delivery and take away.

Enjoy a variety of oysters with a nice glass or bottle of whatever Vino&Co has got on offer.
