Domaine Clamel & Joseph is a “maison de négoce”, where they are specialized in making wines from private vineyards around Languedoc-Roussillon.
Laurent and Jerome started in 1995 with making wine, without owning any vineyards. They buy their grapes in the region of Languedoc-Rousillon, a region in which they believe very strongly, especially nowadays that the grapes from regions such as the Bordeaux and Burgundy are very pricey. They blend, and cure, and use all the techniques, both modern and traditional ones, to accentuate the special qualities of the grapes and the region. In the heart of what is the biggest vineyard in the world, Calmel & Joseph perpetuate this heritage in the continuity of the ancient skills of their ancestors. Villa Blanche, an inspired and inspiring signature creation, is at the confluence of tradition and modern technology. The aromas are pleasingly expressive with fruity notes of mango, papaya and pink grapefruit punctuated with a few smoky, toasted notes. Citrus fruit reappears on the palate, with lemony, but also lightly aniseed (fennel) flavours bringing incredible freshness to the finish. We are in the presence of an elegant, very original Sauvignon Blanc of immense aromatic complexity.
