Tsuki no Katsura Yanagi — a smooth, fruity sake bursting with rich umami and Kyoto’s timeless elegance.
Tsuki no Katsura (月の桂) is located in Kyoto’s historic Fushimi district. Founded in 1675, Masuda Shoten is one of the oldest breweries in the area, known for its pure water rich in minerals that support balanced fermentation. The brewery pioneered nigori sake in 1964 and holds a renowned collection of aged koshu sakes.
Combining traditional techniques with modern technology, Tsuki no Katsura crafts exceptional sake honoring Kyoto’s brewing heritage. The name means “Moon’s Katsura,” referencing the elegant river that flows through the city.
Their Yanagi sake, named after the willow tree, features delicate fruity aromas of melon, apple, and pear. Smooth and balanced with a rich, slightly sweet umami flavor, it finishes clean with a pleasant aftertaste—showcasing the refined character of Kyoto’s sake.
